This wine is from Italy. Conternoas 2002 Barolo Riserva Monfortino is a legend in the making, or now that it is in bottle, it may be more correct to simply say it is a legend. The late Giovanni Conterno and his son Roberto Conterno created quite a stir when they announced that they would make their Monfortino in 2002, a year in which most of the harvest in Piedmont was severely compromised by a cold summer and devastating hail in early September. But there was more. The Conternos not only announced that they would make their Monfortino in 2002 but no Barolo Cascina Francia for the first time ever in the estateas history. In a bit of defiance towards the press, the Conternos then announced no one would be allowed to taste the wine from barrel. Over the years, this stance softened. Visitors lucky enough to visit the cellars and sample the wine from cask knew what was in store. Simply put, the 2002 Monfortino is stratospheric. A dark, imposing, but sensual wine, it flows from the glass with a breathtaking array of dried roses, autumn leaves, wild cherries, plums, new leather, espresso, licorice and spices, showing phenomenal depth, richness and balance. The tension between the luxuriousness of the fruit and the austerity of the vintage is truly captivating. I have tasted the 2002 Monfortino multiple times from barrel and bottle. At times it has reminded me of what I imagine the 1971 tasted like upon release, at other times it has seemed more similar to 1978. According to Giovanni Conterno, the 2002 reminded him of the 1971. Either way, the wine is extraordinary. The 2002 Monfortino is the result of the cold vintage that was typical of Piedmont up until the mid 1980s. In many ways, it is a throwback to wines that canat be made anymore in Piedmont. Roberto Conterno thought so highly of the 2002 Monfortino he gave the wine an extra year in barrrel. And of course, there is one sad footnote. The world lost Giovanni Conterno to cancer in 2004, but he made sure his last Monfortino was at least equal, if not better, than his most monumental wines. There is little doubt the 2002 Monfortino will soon take its place as one of the greatest Monfortinos ever made. It is the most fitting last chapter to the life of one of the worldas greatest winemakers. As always, I suggest readers who have an interest in Monfortino taste the wine as soon as possible, as it will soon head into a period of dormancy, which in this vintage may last several decades. One of my favorite vintages for current drinking is the 1970, which still looks to have another 30 years of fine drinking ahead of it! Anticipated maturity: 2027-2052. Our Spaniard is indeed content with its home in the Sierra Foothills. Deep, rocky soilsmanaged to store up enough of the generous spring rains to support these young vinesthrough a warm season. Although the name Tempranillo can be translated to The EarlyOne, our vines took well into the season to develop the characteristic dark chocolateand concentrated fruit characters of this intense variety.This third vintage has allowed the vines to express their full potential. The raspberryand dark chocolate aromas are as prominent as in the first vintages, but a silkiertexture, smoother tannins and impressive mid palate are all the result of a bit more age.The spicy, blackberry bramble flavors tango brilliantly with the firm structure providinga long, tantalizing finish. Recanati Yasmin series of wines is specifically produced to be mevushal – keeping it kosher, regardless of who serves it, an important consideration for kosher caterers and restaurants. Yasmin White is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and a small amount of Emerald Riesling grapes harvested in winery's vineyards in Binyamina and Jezreel Valley. aromas of this very crisp wine are reminiscent of spices, aniseed, pear and citrus. Drink as an aperitif or with chicken, fish and Italian dishes and creamy cheeses. Best served well chilled and store lying down in a cool, dark place.

An intense and attractive redcurrant color with violet tones. Fine bubbles and mousse. bouquet is dominated by berries such as cherries and blackberries, with a base of plum and fig compote and slight evolution from its contact with lees. On palate it is young, fruity, fresh, soft and above all elegant. This is an ideal Cava to drink as an aperitif and with a wide range of dishes, from croquettes, pasta, salads with red fruits, carpaccios, soft creamy cheeses to dishes made with cured sausages, white meats (veal, rabbit, milk fed lamb), poultry, strong spiced and smoked food and a great variey of cakes. fine mousse makes it refreshing and perfect to help digestion of meals. Recommended serving temperature is 6°C and should be stored in a dry and cool place, always in a vertical position. Cava does not improve with time, it is best consumed no later than 20 months after its purchase.

A rich and well-focused aroma fills the glass. Ripe peach with fine vanilla and light toast creates a beautiful harmony. The mouth-feel is rich and vibrant, full of pears, ripe apples and even a hint of lime. The acidity is lively and provides the perfect balance to the concentrated fruit and the creamy, elegant lees notes. The crisp and zaftig finish is long, with classic mineral and flinty characters. This is chardonnay at its best, a wonderful reflection of our unique soil and climate here in the Hamptons, promising great longevity. -- Roman Roth, Winemaker/Technical Director Harvest 2007 was the perfect growing season, with ideal amounts of sun, heat and rainfall--a Vintner's dream come true! Technical Data Hand harvested on October 21st, the golden looking grapes were handled swiftly and gently. The juice was well settled for 48 hours at 50 F, followed by a very clean racking. The juice fermented 77% in French barriques, of which 28% was new oak, reaching a maximum fermentation temperature of 86ْ F. Natural Malolactic fermentation went through 50% and the wine stayed sur lees for a total of 7 months, with very little batonage. The stainless steel portion (23%) fermented cool at a maximum of 65 F. The wine was blended, fined and filtered in June. Bottled on August 29, 2008, the blend produced 670 cases. Analyses Brix at Harvest 22.4 PH 3.4 TA 5.7 gr/liter Residual sugar 0 gr/liter Alcohol 13.0% Serving Serve slightly chilled. You may even let this wine breathe for half an hour.
